How does Rinpoche impart precious Dharma inspiration?

7 Apr

From time to time, people would ask me what do I do with Rinpoche on those long sleepless nights I spend in the Ladrang. Well, first of all I would like to clarify that my time in the Ladrang is not one long Dharma talk after another. More often than not, it is really quite a lot of fun and games. At times, Rinpoche would make me tell him new news while he does his Sadhana. There were times, we would watch a movie together and sometimes, we would be in deep discussion about the psyche of interesting people that we knew.

However, none of that happened last night because Rinpoche was in the mood to sing! I was giving Rinpoche a back rub as he had just spent hours blogging. In order to relax, he searched some old disco numbers from Sylvester and Donna Summer on YouTube and got the respective lyrics printed out. So Rinpoche, myself and Seng Piow – Rinpoche's attendant could practice our falsetto voices over the thumping disco beats. I am impressed with Seng Piow's apparent willingness and passion while he sang. However, I was not too impressed with my own chipmunk voice and I kept laughing when I heard my own voice. Rinpoche just sang away like he was Sylvester and Donna Summers all rolled into one. Talk about raw talent…

Here are some of the songs we sang to…

Sylvester…

Donna Summers…
