Clowning around with Rinpoche

5 May

Rinpoche had for the longest time been affectionately calling us clowns because of the way we work and conduct ourselves. It just makes him laugh when we do thinks in fixed ways and we expect a different result. Hence, we were clowns. So, I cleverly bought a court jester hat one day to amuse Rinpoche. It was one of those outlandish hats complete with bells and bright colours. I thought he would smile, laugh a little and chuck it away in the cupboard. Boy, was I wrong!  Here’s what happened…

Then, there’s this other night I was telling Rinpoche about what I did when I was younger to amuse myself. In short, I would cup my tummy and squeeze it to make my belly-button talk. It was cute as a kid I guess but I am not sure if I am cute as an adult doing this. Here’s a re-enactment:-

Thank you for showing us that ego and pride are only in our ignorant mind, David. How fortunate it is to be a court jester for our Lama.. hehe

Haha, Rinpoche used skillful way to tame David’s ego, funny yet thoughtful of a kindest guru.
