Morning Ritual

20 Mar

I am out of ideas to blog so I am doing something silly like document my morning ritual before I head to work. Here in this picture, I just woke up and staring myself at my iPhone camera. I am not a morning person so I don’t look the least friendly. I apologize for that and also for showing off a little skin because a singlet’s my favorite peejay.

First thing I do is clear the water offerings (this is after procrastinating and playing with my iPhone first) and pour the water onto the plants on the balcony. I dunno why but there’ always some ants swimming in the offering bowls. They must love swimming or they were mighty thirsty.

Then I do the holy-schmoly thing of doing my daily sadhana (recitations) and reciting my vows. I do this in the morning mainly because I am not sure what time I sleep and I didn’t want to sleep through it half-way after a long day at work. Morning Sadhanas are the best because I could most definitely sit through it without falling asleep. So much for pretending to be a yogi!

Eggs on toast and more toasts with my favorite Nutella spread and a cup of steaming hot Milo. (Ok, I bargained with Paul to make breakfast and I take Zamkar to the Haven.) The wine glass was with a little Ribena, a leftover from last night that I happily gulped down. The Ribena was in the fridge of course so it was not assaulted by the ants.

Zamkar is at my feet ready to swallow any crumbs that fall off the table. Just before I head to the office, I leave him at the Haven, Rinpoche’s residence to be with his other Schnauzer friends so he would never be alone. It’s a bit of work bringing him back and forth but at least it keeps him happy. In the past, he was left on his own a lot and Paul, the dog’s daddy and I noticed he looked depressed and always sleepy. So, with this new arrangement, he’s much more alive and happier.

Shower time! And I would be wearing my favorite old Zara shirt. It’s a little old but I love the thick collars and tapered cut. Anything to look good as my youth is slipping by real fast and I have to maximize all that I have right now. Great nuggets of wisdom for a spiritual person huh!  Oh well, nobody said I was a Buddha.

I am all set for work! See ya guys!

    Hi David,

Zara is one of my favourite stores too. But I can’t afford most of their products at the moment coz I am a student. So H&M’s my alternative but I dislike clothes browsing these days. Not as much as when I was younger.

I know what you mean and I love H&M too. We don’t have H&M here in KL but I heard they will be coming into town soon. Another reason to punch a hole in my wallet, if you know what i mean.

Are you a vegetarian David? As you mentioned that you had nutella spread, it is not vegetarian. I found that out a few months ago and I’ve been a vegetarian for almost 2 decades. If you are inclined, you can google it for further info.

The following is from a website-

The whey* powder of the Ferrero Rocher contained in the Prestige/Collection Pack, Raffaello, Nutella, and Kinder Happy Hippo are of animal origin and therefore not suitable for vegetarians. Also the orange flavour Tic Tac is not suitable for vegetarians, the colouring used is of animal origin.

*Whey is one of the components which separates from milk after rennet (a byproduct of veal production) is added.
Natural calf rennet is extracted from the inner mucosa of the fourth stomach chamber (the abomasum) of young calves.
Meaning that whey can contain animal making it unsuitable for vegetarians

Cadbury’s Chocolate Spread and Tesco’s chocolate spread are both suitable for vegetarians.
