A biting comedy for the underdog in all of us!

My colleague, Fang a few weeks ago had borrowed me a series called GLEE. I think the world is familiar with its amazing musical and the hype has got me intrigued. They called it a darker, more cynical High-School Musical. When I first watched the first episode, I absolutely loved it!

It wasn't perfect and I was not a fan of musicals and I absolutely detest High School Musical but I love Glee. What I fell in love were the believable and adorably flawed characters and its underlining plot. The Glee club/ New Directions is a high school music club that was newly headed by a Spanish teacher Mr Will Schuester.

The Glee club is basically a bunch of rag-tag footballers, cheerleaders and a few mixfit teens that include a wheelchair-bound, an asian with a lisp and a teenage queer. The ensuing drama is completed with teenage angst, being an outcast and even teenage pregnancy. And to top it off with the teacher's own failing marriage and a colourful Sue Sylvester, the coach of the Cheerleading club hell-bent on destroying the club.

The kids went through musical triumphs and defeats while gaining self-esteem and self-worth. I was tearing with pride when they won their sectionals and swearing like a trooper when they lost the regionals. I felt their uplifting triumph and their crushing defeats. It was just so good that I had to blog about it and I actually feel inspired after watching it.

This is my favourite song from Glee – Don't Stop Believing (a cover of the original song by Journey)
